Total History Secion Today!

Hey everyone!!! Well today is gonna be totally about history. Weird right? But who doesn't love a little history? Anyways, our topic is gonna be kind of sad. It's about 9/11. As you guys know, last Sunday was the 10th anniversary of the terrible terrorist attack that happened in New York. This was the worst tragedy America ever had. It killed more people than the attack of Pearl Harbor. So sad...

AW!

It all started at 8:46am on Tuesday September 11, 2001. A hijacked plane flew into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. At 9:03 a second hijacked plane flew into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. All bridges were closed around New York and New Jersey. Every airport in the country was closed, that was the first time that every happened. At 9:45 a third hijacked plane crashed into the Pentagon. At 10:05 the South Tower collapsed. At 10:10 a huge part of the Pentagon collapsed. Also at 10:10 the fourth hijacked plane crashed in a rural part of Pennsylvania. The only reason it didn't crash into some other monument was because the brave people on that flight confronted the hijackers. Then, at 10:28 the North Tower fell. The damage had been done.

These terrorists were part of a group called Al Qaeda led by Osama Bin Laden. They had been planning the attack for years. For some reason, they hate us. No one really knows why but they do. I don't get why either, I mean we are awesome! Anyways, they were hoping that this attack would break America apart. But we did the exact opposite. We came together more of a country than we ever have. It showed them and the rest of the world that we Americans are strong. We can do anything if we put our heart and soul into it. It showed the world that we are not weak.

Every American knows about 9/11. You always feel emotional when you hear about it. Everyone now feels sad, sick to your stomach, shock, and just overall bad. People in the future will probably feel just as bad. They might not have as much emotion because they weren't actually to witness it. But they could always do stuff to remember it. They could look at some pictures, watch a video, or better yet, visit the memorial. If your wondering what the memorial is, let me tell you so your brain can be filled with even more knowledge. Basically the memorial is were the Twin Towers once stood. It has a waterfall and all of the people's names that tragically died there. The place is now called Ground Zero.

this is what one of them looks like. the other one looks identical

Lots of things came out of 9/11. Both good and bad. The bad is all the lives lost and the damage that happened. The good is how much America came together and the new Freedom Tower they're building. This will be at Ground Zero and will be a whole lot bigger and safer than the old Twin Towers. It will be 1,776 feet tall. They want it to be this length because in that's when America got our independence, 1776. Plus, they are making it with lots of precautions. So it's gonna be really safe.

this is how it's planning to look

9/11 was such a terrible event in our country's history. It killed over 3,000 people. It really was the worst tragedy of our country's history. But hey, we made it. Even if it is a thing of the past, it still happened. We should celebrate this day by a simple day of rememberance. Remember the people who died on those planes, the heros who risked their lives to save others in the towers, and the brave people who confronted the hijackers and made the plane not crash into another building. We Will Never Forget. Science Fun:)
