Gala-la-laxy!!!!!! =P

Galaxy! Gala-la-laxy! Hey guys! It's me! So today we're going to talk about galaxies. Does anyone remember what a galaxy is? (umm is it a cloud of matter?) Close, it's a cloud of dust, gas, planets, and stars. But good try! (thank you!) Well we're gonna try to get a little bit more detailed than that today. We're gonna learn about, "the three major classifications of galaxies." That's what Mr.Sellers (my science teacher) told me to write about in specific. But don't get me wrong, this is a very interesting topic. Lemme show you.
OK so the classifications are, drum roll please. Dudududuudududududududu..... Elliptical, Spiral, and Irregular! Here is what they are:
Elliptical Galaxies- They're shaped like an oval or a disk. It's very BRIGHT! It actually gets brighter as you get further in. Something cool is that they don't have an, "exact axis of rotation." That means that it doesn't spin in a specific way.

see i TOLD u it was bright!

Spiral Galaxies- Spirals have three parts. A bulge, a disk, and a halo. The bulge is in the center and it has most of the older stars. The disk has a bunch of gas, dust, and younger stars. It makes up the arms. Cool fact: Our sun is in an arm. The halo is around the bulge and some of the disk. It also contains clusters of stars called global clusters.

oo that has brown, blue, and PURPLE!

Irregular Galaxies- These galaxies have no definate shape or form. There isn't much we know about them. We DO know that they have mostly younger stars. They have different shapes and sizes. Basiclly they're the rejects. They're um...what do you call it? (irregular?) YEAH! That's it!

it kinda looks like a sideways C

Well that's the end of my blog! Hope you guys like! Here's a super weird video. BYE!!!!! Science Fun:)

Got Milk-y Way?

YO YO YOSIF! IT BE ME ME ME! LOL! Hey guys. I'm here with another awesome blog for you guys! Today we're going to talk about something sweet. It's called the Milky Way galaxy. Does anyone here know what that is?

oh oh i KNOW i got it right this time!

Sigh I really thought you were gonna get it this time! (oh man!) Well the Milky Way is our galaxy. A galaxy is a giant cluster of stars, dust, gas, and planets. Now since you know what a galaxy is, we're gonna talk about the Milky Way. Well first, its 100,000 light-years across. A light-year is measured on how fast light travels in a year. Another thing is that its a barred spiral. It basically looks like a spiral except it has a line instead of a giant sphere in the center. Here is a pic:

this pic shows out tiny little sun

In every galaxy, there is a giant black hole in the center. Ours has one, too. That's why our galaxy keeps spinning. That's something I thought was cool and thought you should know! Another cool thing about the Milky Way is that it has over 200 billion stars! And belive it or not, it's only a middle sized galaxy! Woah. From Earth we can see only 2,500 stars.

so pretty!!!!!

This galaxy has a lot of gas and dust. It doesn't seem like it but 10-15% of the "normal matter" is dust. And by normal matter, I mean matter that's not dark matter. Dark matter is somthing that reacts with other matter by using gravity. It takes up 80% of all the matter in the universe.  If you thing that's bad, wait till you here this! The Milky Way wasn't always an innocent pretty, galaxy. It got to be this big because it ate other galaxies! Infact, it's eating one right now! The galaxy is called  Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy. One last thing, it's located in a place called the Local Group, with 30 other galaxies.

wow

OK I think that's all for now. You know, since this is somthing really special. I'm gonna show you guys a supercalafredgalisticexpialodocious video! I'm gonna show you a video to complement the beauty of the many galaxies there are. You didn't think the Milky Way was the only pretty galaxy, did you? Well then watch this. Hope you like it! Oh yeah, there also is a little bit of out solar system. Kk bye! Science Fun:)

Yo peeps of the world! lolz I love random titles!

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Lizzi please don't hit me! LOL! Hey guys its me here and I wanna talk about constellations. OK so first let me tell you WHAT constellations are. Well basically they're groups of stars. They aren't exactly together though. They're kind of like friends or neighbors. It just looks like they're together from where we are.
A long time ago, before they had T.V.'s and computers and stuff, people would go outside and look at the stars. Thousands of years ago people in the Middle East would make stories out of the stars. YEAH! Go mah mid peeps!!! Anyways, other people started thinking, "HEY wait a second! That group of stars looks like a person! Oh we should make stories out of them!" They also used to use them for directions. They would use the Big Dipper's Pointers to guide them to the North Star. Whoa, wasn't that in Peter Pan?! OMG I love that movie! Well yeah. They basically used the stars for north, south, east, and west. Never Eat Sour Worms.

omg it moves! SO cool!

OK so now we are gonna talk about a specific constellation. No I'm not picking favorites! But we all picked constellations and I picked this one. So get off my back! JK. Anyways, my constellation is called Perseus. Perseus is a great hero in Greek Mythology. (for the peeps who don't know, he was the one that killed Medusa) He can be found in the winter in the Northern Hemisphere. If you look REALLY closely you can see a triangular body with his legs curling in towards his head. You can also see his arms, one is holding something either a weapon or maybe the head or Medusa. DUH DUH DUHHHHHHHHHH! Oh yeah, I probably tell you guys WHY Perseus is famouse! Yeah, that would be a good idea.
So Perseus was a Greek hero and was most famouse for slaying Medusa (the snake hair lady). But you guys know that because I told you that! Anyways, he used Hermes' wings and Athena's shield to do it. When he was coming home, he saw a monster trying to harm the Princess Andromeda so he killed the monster by showing him Medusa's head. Anyone who looked at her turned to stone, whether she was alive or dead. (shiver) That's so creepy!

this is Perseus. see it DOES kinda look like a person!

OK so last thing we're gonna talk about is: I dunno! OMG I told myself I wasn't gonna forget! Wait for it, wait for it, wait for it..... I GOT IT! We are going to talk about why the constellations change each season. Oh that's easy! It's because the stars IN the constellation move! They just move really slowly. But they still move. So by the time we see the constellation again, it changed. Isn't that coolio?!
Alright so no I have to write MORE because Mr.Sellers made me write more! And yes Mr.Sellers I did mention it! Okedoke then the last thing we will be talking about is a little something I like to call, circumpolar constellations. These are constellations that circle the poles. They move counterclockwise. OMG that is a really long word! Anyways, the largest constellation is Hydra and the smallest is Crux. There NOW we're done!
So that's some info on constellations. I hope you enjoyed them! Well I'll leave you guys a video cuz I'm in a good mood. But that could change at any moment! (cough) Nope now I'm not gonna do it! (no I'm sorry!) OK then, I'll play it! (yay) Well here's my video and I'm going to go look for constellations. If I'm lucky, Perseus! KK bye! Science Fun:)
